SEBNC at IS 229 After-School Program
Southeast Bronx Neighborhood Centers, Inc’s (SEBNC) SONYC Afterschool Program at IS 229 Roland Patterson School is designed to support and inspire middle school students in grades 6-8.
Located at 275 Roberto Clemente State Park Bridge, within the IS 229 educational campus, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment where youth can explore their interests and enhance both academic and social development skills.
Our highly trained, bilingual staff (English & Spanish) specialize in working with English Language Learners, providing mental health support, promoting Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and offering resources for Special Education students. We also provide enriching summer camp opportunities.
Participants in our program can engage in a wide range of activities including:
- Dance
- Cheerleading
- Gymnastics
- Musical Theater
- STEP
- Double Dutch
We also offer various sports such as:
- Soccer
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Football
- Track
In addition we also offer the following activities and programs:
- Cardio Fitness

Our afterschool program operates Monday through Friday from 2:45 PM to 5:45 PM, with Holiday Camp services available when schools are closed, featuring trips and fun in-school activities.

Summer Rising Program
In partnership with the Department of Education, SEBNC @ P.S. X140 also runs a six-week Summer Rising program.
This fun-filled summer camp features themes such as HBCU Colleges and “All Around the World,” offering students a chance to explore new ideas and cultures.
Our program is a cornerstone for the youth in this community, reminding them that their future matters.
We believe that education is a path to freedom, and we are dedicated to helping at-risk youth discover the world beyond their neighborhood, every day at P.S. X140.
