At a time when social spaces for kids are limited, the McKinley Center Afterschool Program offers a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive.
Our program is designed to promote personal growth, academic success, community involvement, and healthy living through a variety of enriching activities.
What We Offer
Homework Help & Academic Support:
Every day starts with a dedicated hour for homework and tutoring to ensure students stay on track academically.
Engaging Activities:
From STEM projects and arts & crafts to our dance and culinary studios, we offer a range of fun, hands-on activities that keep students excited about learning.
Community Engagement:
Students will have the opportunity to make new friends and build a strong sense of community. Through activities like our community garden project, we emphasize the importance of giving back and working together.

Summer Rising Program
In partnership with the Department of Education, SEBNC @ P.S. X140 also runs a six-week Summer Rising program.
This fun-filled summer camp features themes such as HBCU Colleges and “All Around the World,” offering students a chance to explore new ideas and cultures.
Our program is a cornerstone for the youth in this community, reminding them that their future matters.
We believe that education is a path to freedom, and we are dedicated to helping at-risk youth discover the world beyond their neighborhood, every day at P.S. X140.
