Southeast Bronx Neighborhood Centers Inc. (SEBNC} is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 multi-service agency that has served the Morrisania section of Bronx, New York since 1929. We serve multi-ethnic populations that are rich in diversity and cultural heritages. We offer programs and services for all ages, including infants, school-aged children, young adults and the developmentally disabled.
Position Description and Essential Responsibilities
We are seeking a full-time Educational Specialist to work in our Family Child Care Network program (FCCN). The Educational Specialist will provide 2-4 monthly coaching visits to affiliated 3-K providers and support the planning and implementation of an evidence-based curriculum within a mixed-age setting that supports 3-K children. The essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain provider files and a ready supply of forms, including a current list of prospective providers and available provider placements.
- Conduct monthly announced and unannounced monitoring visits to FCCN providers and provide written and verbal feedback regarding the curriculum and environment.
- Provide Educational Director with bi-weekly reports regarding visits to FCCN providers.
- Recruit providers as needed to maintain an adequate supply of available spaces for children services.
- Give providers guidance regarding overall quality of program operations including nurturing teacher-child interactions, early care learning practices and routines, home safety, discipline, constructive play and other related services or topics.
- Assist and work collaboratively with providers to ensure the provision and accessibility of required program services for – children and families are maintained adequately.
Qualifications and Skills
- BA/BS degree with early childhood or infant/toddler studies and 1-2 years related work experience.
- 1 year of work experience must be in an infant/toddler child care program as a family child care provider or an infant/toddler teacher.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and strict confidentiality. Ability to work in a team setting. Ability to relate to families of diverse low income and homeless populations preferred.
- NYS Drivers’ License required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Abilities
See at normal distance; hear normal conversations & sounds; bend, squat, sit on floor, climb stairs, skip & run. Use hands & fingers to fill out required forms on paper and use computer keyboard & office equipment. Safely lift or assist children weighing up to 40 lbs. as needed.
Other Requirements
Must submit to job-pertinent examinations including tuberculosis test and criminal record background checks. Employment is conditional pending satisfactory results of required tests, etc.
Salary Range & Benefits:
$40k to $46k annually. SEBNC offers a benefits package that includes: paid holidays, PTO (vacation, — personal, sick); health, dental & vision and 401(k).
