Program Director for After-School – IS 229

Summary

The CYFS After-School Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, staff and programming of SEBNC’s after-school program; ensuring a safe and enriching environment for the students.

Duties And Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of the CYFS Program Director are, but may not be limited to:

  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Implement SEBNC Afterschool curriculum, helping school age children to improve literacy competencies, values and physical fitness in an activity based after school environment.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (incident/accident/behavior reports, attendance and sign-in / sign-out sheets).
  • Assist children with homework and guide students in their academic growth.
  • Develop academic curriculum reflective of the project based learning model.
  • Create innovative age appropriate activities and develop lesson plans.
  • Communicate with families, on a weekly basis, about their children’s strengths and areas needing attention.
  • Prepare the learning environment by creating a welcoming space that exhibits student work.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team; provide support to other Specialists in implementing activities.
  • Understand and communicate the SEBNC philosophy and the goals of the After School program to the participants and parents.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health, Department of Youth & Community Development, Department of Education and SEBNC’s policies and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, participants, supervisors and school administration.
  • Attend the minimum required 40 hours of staff training during the school year and Saturday trainings.
  • Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
  • Perform related duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Associate or Bachelor degree in Social Work, Education or Human Services with 2-3 years of experience working with teens and/or youth.

Must have a keen sense of observation and maintain composure under pressure.  Must be dependable and punctual; as well as have excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills, and a strong sense of teamwork.

Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications, Driver’s License required.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Abilities

Ability to see at normal distance, hear normal conversations and sounds. Physical ability to bend, squat, sit on floor, climb stairs, skip and run. 

Use hands and fingers to fill out required forms on regular paper and use computer keyboard and other office machines/equipment.  Ability to safely and occasionally lift 50 lbs. to 100 lbs., when needed.

Salary Range & Benefits:

$55,000 Annual SEBNC offers a benefits package that includes: paid holidays, PTO (vacation, personal, sick); health, dental & vision and 403(b).
