Mission and Goals
At the Blondell Joyner Early Learn Center, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment where children can explore and develop across all domains through play, discovery, problem-solving, and a variety of unique experiences.
Our dedicated teachers and support staff facilitate these experiences, ensuring that each child’s developmental needs are met.
Programs for Children
Early Childhood Education
Our children and staff engage in numerous activities focused on diversity and enhancing academic standards. By promoting the educational and developmental needs of all children, we aim to continuously improve outcomes.
The DOE Implementation Tool, which evaluates classroom centers for strengths and growth areas, helps us ensure that our classrooms provide an exceptional learning environment.
We are committed to supporting children with special needs. Our center accommodates children requiring special services, ensuring they receive the necessary evaluations and resources.
We collaborate with professionals, such as Ms. Perez, DOE Social Worker, to address and manage behavioral issues effectively, working closely with parents and teachers.
Our program emphasizes learning through outdoor observation and hands-on experiences. Although our trips outside the community are limited, the children participate in studies like the Tree Study, Wheel Study, and Recycling Study.
They also explore the community through short walks to the supermarket and library, fostering curiosity and real-life learning.
Cultural & Educational Events
We celebrate various cultural and educational events throughout the year. Highlights include:
Hispanic Heritage Month: Celebrated with storybooks and music.
Halloween: Theatrical day with a parade.
Thanksgiving: Distribution of baskets to needy families and a performance by Shadow Box Theatre.
Christmas: Performances, gifts from Santa, and a special theater performance.
Black History Month: Children's performances.
Read Across America: Learning fun facts about names.
NAECY Week of the Young Child: Special activities and celebrations.
Lifecycle of the Butterfly: Educational study in May.
Monthly visits from the Woodstock librarian and regular Yoga sessions enhance our program.
Success & Achievement
Graduation: For children moving to kindergarten, awards for academic and social development are presented.
Moving Up: For children advancing to 4-K, awards for their progress are given.
Our center participates in the Bank Street ECE Workforce Collaborative, aimed at identifying effective ways to recruit, train, and retain educators in childcare settings.
This initiative includes meetings and collaborative efforts to enhance the quality of early childhood education.
Youth Village CACFP Program
- For Child Care Providers -
CACFP Benefits
Children are served nutritious meals and snacks and develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
Parents know their children are eating safe, healthy meals and snacks. Parents don’t have to pack food to bring to child care.
Providers receive regular training and guidance about many nutrition, mealtime and child development topics. The reimbursement helps providers buy healthier foods.
Communities benefit through CACFP. Studies show that children enrolled in CACFP have healthier diets and are not sick as often as other children. CACFP payments to providers help reduce child care costs for working families.

Our staff contacts families and works together with them to map out goals to support a successful outcome.
Free Training
In order to stay current and on the cutting edge, we offer monthly professional development opportunities. We also offer free training to providers to enhance and build their quality of services.
