|Raye McCollumQuality Improvement Director|
Raye T. McCollum has dedicated her life to volunteering and working for the underprivileged, underserved and underrepresented. She began volunteering as a youth with the Girl Scouts of Westchester/Putnam Counties and has since taken on many causes such as: breast cancer awareness with the American Cancer Society; and childhood poverty and homelessness by partnering with New York Cares and their Winter Wishes and Coat Drive programs. Her passion, however, has been working with and for the developmentally disabled.
Mrs. McCollum began her career serving the developmentally disabled as a direct care counselor while in her senior year of college. Shortly after attaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, she was promoted to Assistant Manager of a residence. In just 6 months, she became the Manager of a 12-bed Intermediate Care Facility and was subsequently given the responsibility of giving oversight to several Individualized Residential Alternatives. After attaining a Master’s Degree, Ms. McCollum decided that she wanted to expand her knowledge of the DD population and acquired a position in Quality Assurance Dept. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, Mrs. McCollum acquired several training certifications, became an investigator, and became well-versed in the regulatory compliance of several government entities.
As the Director of the Quality Improvement Department of SEBNC, Inc., Mrs. McCollum is responsible for the staff training, incident management and regulatory compliance of not only the DD services, but the Early Learn Centers and Child & Youth Services as well.
“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle” This is one of my favorite quotes and one of the many reasons I love working at SEBNC. When one of us gains, we all gain. When one of us shines, SEBNC shines. I feel like I’m a part of something here… I feel like I’m making a difference. We all are. –Raye T. McCollum
